This was a great Tour and an excellent lunch.

East Malvern Combined Probus Club had Tour and Lunch (sandwiches, wraps, tea & coffee) for us at the Seafarers mission 717 Flinders St Docklands. The Tour is 1hr followed by lunch. The cost for Tour & Lunch is $26 per person. The architecturally significant Mission to Seafarers building is iconic to the City of Melbourne and is considered a fine urban example of a merging of the ‘Arts and Crafts’ and ‘Spanish Mission Revival’ architectural styles in Melbourne. An hour-long tour of the heritage-listed building is led by our     experienced and knowledgeable volunteers. Step inside and hear the remarkable stories of the Mission to Seafarers, discover the original use of the Norla Dome and visit the Chapel. Study the maritime artefacts in the Heritage Centre and explore the latest exhibition ‘Encountering People, Places and Things: A Historical and Contemporary Photographic Narrative’

A great tour is to the Australian Synchrotron. This is science at the cutting edge. Its at 800 Blackburn Road Clayton. Parking no problem.

A great place for Lunch is at the Mulgrave Country Club C/r Wellington Rd & Jells Rd Wheelers Hill.

Mid June our club was off again on one of what we call “The Lunch Train”. This outing is all about meeting at Southern Cross station then taking a train to somewhere around Melbourne, having  lunch then a walk around maybe a coffee look at the shops, and then taking the train back home.

This time we went to Williamstown (The last station) and then a short walk to Pelicans Landing for a great lunch over looking the water. The cost was $19:50 for one course (very large) and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink. It was a great deal and we had lots of fun. Worth a try. Submitted By: East Malvern Combined Probus Club Inc.
